Jam Abangon is a Filipino abstract and impressionist artist who graduated from Philippine Women’s University in 2020 with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts, Major in Painting.
Born in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, her passion for art began at an early age and eventually developed into a personal form of expression. Inspired by emotions, nature, personal experiences, and the places she visits, Jam translates her observations and feelings through masterful strokes, burst of colors, texture and movement.
Jam Abangon is known for her layered texture and movement made poignant with her mastery of creating colors of bold or impressionistic style. Her range of subject transcends from serene to animated or melodramatic to explosive.
For Jam, painting is a visual language each work reflects a moment, emotion, or experience while allowing viewers to find their own meaning and connection within the artwork.
“My artistic style is mainly abstract and impressionistic. My strokes are intuitive and expressive. I’m drawn to vibrant colors, but my palette usually depends on the emotion or atmosphere I want to express.”
When asked if she is influenced by a particular artist or style, Abangon said: “I don’t have one particular artist who has influenced my style. I’ve always preferred developing my own visual language, inspired mostly by my personal experiences, emotions, nature, and the places I visit.”
