Nune Alvarado

Born in Sagay city, Negros Occidental, Nune studied Fine Arts at UP Diliman and La Consolacion College of Fine Arts in Bacolod. An Awardee of the 13 Artist Award of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, a Grand Prize Winner of Philip Morris Asian Arts Awards, twice in 1997 and 1999, Nune also won international critical acclaim for his art rooted in social realism. He is well known for his iconic style of the stark imagery of his figures and is regarded as one of the most prominent visual artists in the Philippines.
